BEA Members Accomplishment- GOB
The BEA members have so far been in Government of Bangladesh bodies at large numbers. They have served in various important positions including Deputy Chairman & Members of Planning Commission Bangladesh, Secretaries of Ministries, MPs, Ministers, Politics, Professional bodies, Chief of Directorates all apart from Teaching. The Bangladesh Civil Service- Planning is exclusively meant for Economists. Our members are whole time engaged Economists in Planning Commission & Cells of the GOB. Banking Sector has been immensely benefited by our members from this professional body.
Our Members in Parliament & Ministries
They have been Ministers, Advisors, Governors, MPs in new and past Governments and Parliaments. In the incumbent parliament also, a few members of BEA are elected as MPs in the Parliament who are life members of BEA. The Finance Minister is also a life member having a distinct career in GOB and International Bodies. In all the government our members have performed very well meeting the need of the time.
Think Tank with BEA Members
A number of organisations, research bodies, and autonomous bodies are being run by our members as whole time professionals. Their contributions to operational policies of the GOB have been & are being positively taken with caution by governments in succession.
Nobel Laureates in BEA
Dr. Mohammed Yunus the 2006 Nobel laureate for Peace is a life member of BEA. As the proponent of micro level financing by lending without collateral, his accolade earned laurels and even the Nobel Peace Prize for 2006. Nobel laureates alike Prof. Kenneth J Arrow,Prof J Stiglitz, Prof. Amartya Sen have visited our conferences, workshops, receptions and seminars is recent years.
BEA Life Member Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad is a member of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Winning UN Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Team (working as Lead/Coordinating Lead Author of IPCC Assessment since mid 1990’s)
Benefits of Membership
Members get invitation to attend seminars, conferences, workshops round table meets among others. The election to the Executive bodies takes place every 2 years. The AGM is an annual event for members get together on a regular basis. Members can apply their rights in electing the Executive Committee (EC). The get the publications free for them on time.
How to join BEAIf you have studied a 4 years graduation course in Economics and are serving in related avenue, BEA will welcome your entry as Life or General Member. You got to meet some requirements/ stipulations like applications, fees & evidences showing your interest for its membership on approval from a BEA subcommittee for that matter.
